Strain on relationship before starting RT

Alternatively, do the extreme like I did 'mag to grid' and got rid .Training was so much easier not having to call someone every single flipping night and trying to constantly re-assure someone who was crying down the phone. Again to echo Ninja. The amount of lads who were in my troop in...

    Future Commando

I think Captain Dillon needs to stop giving it 'big licks' around the camp with his driving gloves and get himself on a Commando course.

Transfer from RMR Trained Ranks to regular RM

And THAT. Is the correct attitude to have. Although I give a big sigh when I find out were working with RMR I always judge everyone on what they do before me.

Transfer from RMR Trained Ranks to regular RM

Absolutely. Since being in an instructor role around a couple of units I find that all good work stems from simply having a good attitude. I think its probably one of the most important yet most overlooked aspect that every recruit, marine, cpl and above should have in order to achieve a high...

Transfer from RMR Trained Ranks to regular RM

1 case was out on field firing we had 2 RMR ranks attached to the troop for them to conduct their LFTT and they already wore green lids. 1 RMR lad to be fair was pretty good. He had a great attitude and listened, corrected his mistakes and gave it his all. The other one was lazy, unfit and had...

Transfer from RMR Trained Ranks to regular RM

Why would you do reserve training then try and transfer to regular? My personal opinion I hope that this isn't allowed. The RMR ranks I have worked with have been well below standard and lacking a lot of training. It is to be expected as they have not had as many hours put into them than regulars.

    ROP questions

From what I know of, no they're not.

Cpl On a training team question time II

No. As far as I know, nothing has changed in physical testing for the ROP and I'm pretty sure its an RMFA which you will be tested on (not 100% sure on that though). Train how you would usually for a PRMC (Press-ups, Pull-ups, sit-ups, bleep test, 1.5 miler). All these Phys tests are the...

Cpl On a training team question time II

I have answered you on another thread bar 3. I don't think CTW have enough data yet to see a definite reductions in injuries like shin splints etc.. ROP is still in its infancy and all eyes are watching.

    ROP questions

Do I think the ROP will lead to fewer withdrawals in RT? Hopefully. It will definitely have an effect. One of the things a lot of ranks struggle within the early stages is getting all of their admin, cleaning, washing, ironing, folding to a high standard. The old way was to just thrash the...

    ROP questions

From the little bits I know from the ROP the biggest attrition was due to self withdrawal and to 'not being for them'. Not sure as far as injuries go though. All in all the number of ranks that started week 1 day one was similar to a normal intake on the old programme. Whether those ranks fair...

Just for clarity, that's not what I went through. That's what today's recruits go through :D:D

    Decent RM Documentaries

Legend! I remember seeing him in an old old copy of G&L. He went a long way from not being able to give a "Why things are seen lecture" to become RSM hahaha!

    Decent RM Documentaries

Behind The Lines is amazing! Not RM but the 80's THE PARAS is one of my favourites. You can find it on BBC i-Player

    Trades

There were 2 graduates in my original recruit troop. Me being one of them. My AFCO dug out blind to get me to go Officer. No chance! I wanted to roll in mud and I can tell you, I've done loads of that!

    New selection process - Feedback

The whole ROP concept is a great idea and if it's done well the TT will benefit and in the long run, a better marine will be produced. The argument of "Training was harder back in my day" happens to every soldier as training evolves, strives to become more efficient, to a higher standard but...

    Got green lid

First of all congrats. I had a few of my old lads in your troop. Going to 43 as a first draft is a rubbish ( Exactly what happened to me all those years ago). The corps should be sending lads straight to units!!

    Minimum fitness standards before RT

I know you did and I understood exactly what you said. Forget about comparing yourself to bare minimum and just aim for top marks each time and absolutely everything you do. I see above people have put stuff to get amongst which is good. As long as you turn up to CTCRM with a fantastic...

    Minimum fitness standards before RT

You will aim to max out on EVERYTHING. That will be your personal minimum requirement. A constant theme throughout training is giving 100%. Not 98% not 99% everything, so get the thoughts of minimum out of your mind. If you're not giving your best then you're not going hard enough. We don't...
