    Week 5 - questions??

Yes, there are two lads who are 17 and a couple who are 18, one joined on his 17th birthday. Initially they found it hard and wanted to leave but they've worked hard and seem to be enjoying it more and more now :D

    Week 5 - questions??

Just trying to reiterate your point about the PDF. Initially I wasn't sure I was thinking about the same one as you but here is the link (I think)...

    Week 5 - questions??

There is a basic infantry map reading handbook online you can download as a pdf which is a great tool. As others have mentioned, the best way to practise is to do. A story from last week: I was on sentry at 2am last week on ex quick cover when I heard someone approach the harbour. I asked him...

    Week 5 - questions??

It's different every week and it depends on the week your on and the time of the year. For example, the Sunday before Easter Leave was a working weekend because no one worked that Friday. Last weekend we worked Saturday until 1pm and had the rest of the weekend off but on Week 2 we only got a...

    Week 5 - questions??

ALWAYS intense. There are only two speeds in the gym - as fast as you can or perfectly still. The sessions are tough but rewarding.

    Week 5 - questions??

This is massive, make sure you can iron, hand wash and fold your clothes before you arrive. If you don't appreciate sleep now, I PROMISE you will after the first couple of weeks.

    Week 5 - questions??

I think there is a Royal Marines Training Program on the Royal Navy website (sorry, computer is playing up). If not, keep it simple. 3/4 Bodyweight circuits a week and 3/4 runs a week (different intensity and distance). Make sure you progress each week and you are achieving max scores before PRMC.

    Week 5 - questions??

I'll be honest - I'm finding it very tough. Then again, everyone would be in the RM if it was easy ;). I think they call it the 'shock of capture' when you arrive. Its more intense arriving for RT then it was on the PRMC. Your met at the station by your Drill Instructor, there's a cameraman and...

    Week 5 - questions??

It was a really good day. Drill and gym went really well and managed to leave base by 2pm. I imagine its even better for recruits who don't see family for 5 weeks - we had easter leave in between starting training and families day.

Start training on the 20th of April; any tips?

Tips: 1. Do plenty of hill sprints and bodyweight circuits 2. If your not already, make sure you can polish, iron, hand wash and fold your clothes. 3. Take only what's on the kit list. Plenty of underwear and socks though and make sure you take brown mid tan for your boots.

    Typical RM Warm up

Before a phys session in the gym you usually jog around half of the gym and follow movements and instructions given by the PTI. This will include: high knees, heel flicks, sprints, press ups, sit ups and squats

    week 4 nod

Personally I think we have a great training team. As a troop we seem to be doing well (most of the time) and there is a bit of banter.

    PJFT - 17/03/15

Sounds trivial, don't drink caffeine or energy drinks for a couple of days before your PJFT. Best of luck.
