    PRMC am I ready

PPS: I’ll let you into a secret. Your training team’s best mates are in the units you ‘might’ end up in. If they send any sh*t then they’ll have to answer for it. Give those Royal Marines with years of operational experience trust in you.

    PRMC am I ready

Take each day as it comes. Be stubborn to yourself and never give up. Plus visit Dutchies while your kits in the drier at 0200 in the morning. Iron it until 0300, sleep until 0630. Go for breakfast, then it all starts again. It’ll only last 8 months don’t worry.

    PRMC am I ready

Yeah tis true. The ‘barrack room’ bulls*it breaks more blokes than most (not counting injury) things. Getting in the field is a relief from constant admin and inspections. CTCRM is designed to break then train.

    PRMC am I ready

Don’t go down until you know you can hit a 9:30 min even after a quick 4 miler. Before I joined in 96 I’d run just about everywhere. Daysack with my work gear, lunch and towel etc. Just plod. But do those hard short runs also. Use a watch and mark the miles on your route. Do plenty of hill reps...

    PRMC mid nineties

I remember it being the PRC I’m sure. I’ve a certificate somewhere from the week. ‘Physical superior ‘ I think ? Top of the course with another bloke. Has anyone got the old course program ? Sunday too Thursday.

I passed in 98 and did 12 years before getting injured on Herrick. Was recce most of my career. And took two troops through CTCRM. Completed 8 tours. Yeah I’ve an idea.

    PRMC am I ready

I’d have four routes from my house. Different distances and terrains. 3,5,7 and 9. I’d just work on doing each as quick as possible. Focus on beating 20mins for 3 first. Make it your goal. And run everywhere you can at a steady jog in between.

    PRMC am I ready

I was on the PRMC and POC staff in 2005. All of your files are in the Corps col office and from the start to finish of PRMC each individual is monitored. We watched the ‘better’ guys and handed they’re files to there new training team. The better you perform the better it is for you. Don’t just...

    Rope climbing

Not many lads are rope biffs. But each troop has one bloke that struggles. The PTI’s teach hundreds of recruits to shift up the ropes correctly. The one nod that struggles needs to have a word with himself.

    PRMC am I ready

As fast as possible. It was a challenge for me. Not just pass my BFT, destroy it. Try and get a ‘physical superior’ certificate (if they still do it) and impress the PRMC team. A BTF is nothing really. Gaz

Feedback request - Cost of extra kit during training

The hierarchy are great at doing ostrich impressions. Sat in the puzzle palace doing *text deleted* all most of the time. Unless they’re away on they’re third AT jolly that term ! Probably spending the toiletries budget on the piss. The Corps should supply everything required by the recruit. Essential...

    PRMC am I ready

Don’t become a familiar face in the Corp colonels office. Impress first time. With those stats you’d have failed when I did my PRMC in the 90’s. But CTCRM has changed over the years, they want more guys through the gate now so the standards have dropped. Don’t do just enough to pass, do...

    Rope climbing

Like the lads have told you already....wait. Work on your phys generally everyday. The PTI’s will teach you the correct method to climb a rope. When I worked in the Corps col office running PRMC and POC we’d go through the wannabe’s files and get an idea who’d pass and fail from they’re...

    Pathfinders platoon

I did recce selection in 2001. You were an RL then. The ML3 thing is new. Most ML’s are in the job they want to be in within the Corps. The blokes I knew that did SF selection from the ML world passed. SF selection in they’re opinion was easier than the ML2 course. Just concentrate on getting...

    Royal Marines & Parachute Regiment

When I was at 42 in 96 a guy (Mne B*text deleted**) from K coy got kicked out of the Corp for being a knobber. He then joined the Parachute regiment. He was only required to do P coy. Next time I saw him was in Afghanistan in 2005. I had a Para in my recruit troop that had served with 3 para. He was...
