    Sfsg

In all seriousness don’t worry too much about the likes of SF support for a few years. You are hopefully joining the Corps at a time of great change. Im genuinely hopeful that FCF will bring about some good changes and will see the lads engaging with some tasty stuff. Only last year 42 Cdo used...

Do you want to join the elite? Pit yourself against the toughest military course in the world? Be at the very centre of the action? The Corps selects the officers and ORs who have the fitness, determination and mental robustness for service as commandos. If you can’t summons some backbone then...

It doesn’t work like that lad. But I can see your thinking. He will need a few years in the Corps, decent annual reports and Branch/SQs play a part.

    Accepted, over the age limit?

Why would they apply a waiver to you? Just because you want to join? If they did that then what would the point in having an age limit be? Don’t be bloody ridiculous lad! Sorry but with respect I don’t think RM is for you. Plus for gods sake stop flapping. Try the roles in the mainstream Navy...

Para Platoon earning the Maroon beret

Only if the challenge is drinking rum? I say young Rob and Wings. One of the PTI members can draw up a fair challenge.

Para Platoon earning the Maroon beret

I think in the spirit of competition and amusement we should have a challenge on here between a Royal and a Para then post the results.

How often do you get to jump now lads? Do you still have to complete 8 annual to retain para pay?

Make it a rule of life never to regret and never to look back. Regret is an appalling waste of energy, you can't build on it it's only good for wallowing in. Who knows, after you smash RMR the wind might blow you towards SB (R)

How did you find working with PF? With them being tri service are they still predominantly para reg? Were you not tempting to have a crack mate?

Oh dear indeed! Normally the Wings tattoo was reserved for PARA REG. I’m sure if any PARAs spotted it & realised you were a hat they either laughed or became seething. P-coy doesn’t make you a para. Depot does! Still funny though

I agree with you lad, it seems such a shame that he can’t pursue the RMR. Bloody hell lad, so are you ex airborne? Where you PARA REG or attached? Either way good effort. Going from Maroon to Green takes balls of Steel.

The guide is clearly a recruiter and he says no. He knows better than you. Changing ones arm will be a waste of time. He should go get the next best think, a maroon lid. Shame as the Corps is cutting its nose of to spite its face. Well done in getting into a troop in RMR, best of luck with it...

With the constant strain on resources, I don't think the Armed Forces can afford to be quite so dogmatic about age limits. They are denying themselves too many potentially very good Marines. Some middle aged guys are in exceptional condition. My neighbour is mid 40s who would make the average...

    Blisters

As usual great advice from Rob. We used to have foot inspections after the first few yomps and the medic would be poised to scalpel blisters. There are a million and one ways to deal with blisters, I dont know what the official text book way of dealing with them but if a Marine can’t sort his...
