RM appointed as Her Majesty's equerry

Major Tom White RM has just been appointed as the Queen's equerry. He will replace Lieutenant Colonel Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah next month, and makes history as the first commando to hold the position. A very warm congratulations to him...

    URNU query

@MrT26 I've just finished university and have spent all three years in the URNU. Primarily, URNUs are geared up to generate insights into the surface fleet, not the Corps, and green stuff is almost non-existent within the URNU. That being said though, we have had a couple of aspiring RMs in...

    Virtual AIB

How's everyone's prep going? I've been waiting since January but am going for a less prioritised role.

    Boots

They're amazingly light too, really good footwear. I've got a pair of their Quest 4D boots. I hadn't worn them in over a year and put them on for a lockdown wonder the other day. They made my walking shoes seem inadequate in comparison!

    Boots

I sell boots for a living as part of my job in a camping store, Altbergs are great but there's equally good brands. As Rob said, the type walking you're looking to do will influence what boots are best. Merrell are really good value for money if you're looking for all-round mesh boots. Salomon...

    Telephone SIFT

No problem mate, it's a massive thread so here's a link to the exact post: https://www.navy-net.co.uk/community/threads/aib-all-about-admiralty-interview-board-officer-selection.36732/post-1471356

    Telephone SIFT

@Farmerdave there's a thread on Navy Net about the AIB. Someone's just passed a Skype one and is answering questions on it if you want to jump in.

Nothing to do but wait. Best of luck when you get yours!

    Telephone SIFT

Well done mate, my interviewer threw in the 2 minute summary too! Were you given any hint about when to expect an AIB call? I passed SIFT in January and was told that there's around a 5 month wait (different role). This is most likely delayed by COVID so I'm just hoping it's not too long.

    AIB

I'm in the same boat as you. My ACLO phoned me the other day and informed me that it's just an interview over Skype now. As far as he was aware, there won't be any other components. He stressed though that it's an evolving situation and might be subject to change, just keep an eye out for any...

Recruiting Process - latest news - COVID 19

Candidates chatting on Navy Net have said that the AIB is now taking the form of a Skype interview. Is anyone able to corroborate this? I'm still waiting for an AIB and haven't had anything communicated to me.

That's great, many thanks for the information!

    Speed March at AIB

Hi Everyone, The AIB has very recently replaced the 1.5 mile run with a 3 mile speed march. Surely if a candidate can pass the 1.5 mile run in the allotted time, then they'll easily pass a 3 mile speed march as well. Any thoughts on why this change may have been implemented?

    POC dates for year 2020

I was surprised by the wait time too! My ACLO told me that for general entry warfare officers there are candidates who passed their careers discussion/SIFT in August and are yet to have an AIB date. Fingers crossed though I won't have to wait that long, but that's all I can do for the moment.

    POC dates for year 2020

I'm not joining the RMs, but am waiting for an AIB for RN Warfare Officer. Although the jobs have different recruitment priorities and so wait times aren't comparable, I've been told to expect about a 5 month wait for my AIB date. I'm likely looking at missing my desired Sept 2o20 intake at BRNC...

Trump: US killed Soleimani to 'stop a war' with Iran

I personally think it is a very credible way forward for maritime activities. Blue water fleets are extremely expensive, and - if you buy into all this grey area / hybrid / 4th generation warfare stuff - can be severely undermined by green water assets supplemented with other weapons. This is...
