So like the good little forum reader I am, I attended my medical with all my medical records from my local GP practice already prepaid for by myself in February 2016, I even handed over a 5 month training diary for extra security. I explained to the doctor doing the medical that I have no history of any medical problems, the only thing worth any note on my medical records was a MRI scan from two years ago on my knee, but the records showed my ACL was intact, my knee structure was stable and notes from a physiotherapist showed I had made a full recovery (all paid for by the NHS which I'm thankful for).

Doctor said all is well, he will need to pass the paperwork on to Capita so they can give it the all clear...

Six/Seven months later September crept on me and no medical pass. Phoned my AFCO and they said they'll get me a limited medical to discus what has delayed everything.

At the limited medical I was told that due to me not attending any follow ups at the medical centre in Kettering (Which is in England and I live in Scotland) and my lack of clarity on my knee injury and elbow break I will need to go to a specialist to get my knee confirmed as stable and a note saying they believe I'm fit to proceed. So I explained to him this has absolutely nothing to do with me, after about half an hour of making my point he reluctantly believed me. He then said he had received two emails about me that day, one saying I was fit to proceed then another a few moments after that one saying the above. We agreed there must be a case of mistaken identity and the fit to proceed email must be relating to me.

He said he'll refer it to Capita and they'll give it the all clear...

Eventually in December the Officer that was processing my application started to become frustrated with the whole thing (after I was medically unfit to attend the third POV who had booked me on) and decided to put a Sgt on the case. The guy was great ordered my files and after they failed to come through he said he'd get his boss to call me. A gentleman with the rank Chief called me on Jan 3rd to tell me that due to my failure to attend Kettering medical centre and blah blah blah they will need blah blah blah to process me fit.

Just to try and stop this post becoming much longer than it already is I was passed medically fit to proceed today. There is a lot more F'ups than I have stated above but that is the rough idea.

*text deleted* Capita and *text deleted* this stupid/nonsensical medical process.

Silver lining is I had already missed the 2016 cut off and I had originally planned to aim for the 2017 batch so all I missed out on was the POVs. However having the backup of a second POC would have been nice.

On a lighter note, I hope no one else has to go through the above, and since I was going for the next years batch I reckon my medical took so long because it wasn't a priority at that point.

Well done for persevering. Sounds more Kafka than Capita.

Glad to hear you finally passed fit mate, I've noticed your much drawn out medical saga since early days on here, as mine was a 6 month ordeal too. I was on that last POV you got kicked off, would've been cracking to get to know you I'm sure. But all the best for the rest of the application mate, smash it! Hopefully see you on September 4th ;)

I had my medical today and was made TMU'd until the doctor gets more information on a leg and ankle fracture I had back in 2010. The Doctor said Capita should have already been in touch my GP and gathered all the information before I came in for my medical but they obviously have not. He said they have been a nightmare to deal with. So frustrating that the process takes so long

Congrats on the medical pass bud! I should have a medical pass by the end of the month, so might bump heads with you at a POC in the near future!

Once the PJFT is out the way (which I'm not concerned over unless I get an injury, touch wood). I'll ping up on a page on here for which POC date I get, hopefully get a few names and a facebook/whatsapp group on the go. hopefully help break the ice etc...
