I know this might sound a bit of a stupid question but how is it decided which group a successful recruit goes into after completion of training?

you get to choose, think you get a first and a second choice. thinks it more then likely you'll get your first choice, but if theres a real shortfall then thats were the majority will go, like it or not.

Yup, last week of RT you do the paperwork, to ask for unit, future specialisations (if you want, tis recommended) and other such things

You do get to give your first and second preferences but ultimately it depends on the operational requirements of the bridage (i.e if 42 is short of men, you are going to 42).

I spoke 2 my frend who is a marine, n he said you get a dream sheet in week 31 n he advised me 2 put down specialisations rather than where i want to go..a.)because of the long waiting lists for some of the things. b.) he said u'll get sh1t drafts i.e FPGRM..but i don't really *text deleted* go 45 *text deleted* so i might put 42 n then 2 specialisations!.

I'm guessing you will find out where the units are going to be sent to within the next year or so, so if there was 2 of them going to afghan within the next 9 months, everyone would want to join them two.

I suppose it depends what you join for.

My mate who was in my troop joined FPG after passing out as he was under 18. He would have prefered to have gone straight to Afghanistan and therefore he found it a *text deleted**text deleted* draft as it wasn't what he wanted to do.
