Am I right in saying there are no substitutes/ equivalents for A-levels when applying as an officer even with the sufficient UCAS point?

    Cheers

So that meets the academic requirements for entry as YO?

BTEC Level 3 dual or treble awards are only accepted in lieu of A Levels if passed at least at Distinction/Merit or Merit/Merit/Merit respectively. Single awards are not accepted, nor Level 2 BTECs.

Just got my results - I've got 2 C's at A level and a C at AS . This nets me 76 UCAS points all in. Is this acceptable for entry as an officer?

AS Levels are only accepted with a grade A pass and must not have been taken at A2.

Two A Levels at grade C only gives 64 points unfortunately.

Either way, talk to your AFCO for verification.

    Best of luck.

Unfortunately A Levels must be passed at grade D or better for Officer entry.

It's not the end of the world, talk to you AFCO for guidance regarding alternatives. If you join as an Other Rank for example, for a Corps Commission the academic requirement is just the 5 GCSEs A*-C (including maths and English). We accepted 5 Corps Commissions this year, so it can be done, but there are fewer places.

I understand that the Royal Marines has a high proportion of Other Ranks serving who are academically qualified for Officer. The roles are different but one is not inferior to the other. The world remains your lobster.

    Hello :)
Please can I ask for some help with officer elegibility, I am just a bit confused if the subjects I took actually count towards an officer application, because I did a BTEC award, an a level and an AS level but not 3 a levels
I got my results today and using the ucas tarriff calculator I had 104 ucas points,
I got a C in art A level which is worth 32 points, a distinction star in BTEC level 3 subsidiary diploma (qcf) worth 56 points and a maths AS level, but unfortunately the last one was a B grade and worth 16 ucas points (I have not done a full maths a level)
Despite having the required 74 ucas points I am not sure if the BTEC or maths AS actually count?
    Thankyou :)

Again call 03456 07 55 55 to check or pop into your AFCO.

If the BTEC was a single award it is unfortunately not accepted. A dual award BTEC passed at Distinction and at least Merit, is accepted. A triple award BTEC must be passed at Merit, Merit, Merit. AS Levels are only accepted at Grade A.
