Over a year ago now i broke my leg cliff jumping, the break was actually quite neat and healed really well, however i've been having problems with my ligaments. The ligament is one which holds my tib and fib together at the ankle joint. My physio has suggested the quickest and most effective fix would be a screw in my ankle but i need to know whether this would mean kissing good bye to my life long dream of becoming a commando. If it is a definate no then i'll have to seek other more drawn out processes of getting fixed. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

now then mate. i`m no expert but what ever anyone says it comes down to the medical officer on the day. I believe that you can have operations and screws but need to make a full recovery and be free from physio etc etc for at least 12 months, again tho it comes down to the MO on your medical. I had a operation on my knee ( no screws tho ) and everyone told me i could still get in, on my medical I failed, I did object and was sent to london to see a specialist knee doctor for the navy, and he let me in.

I know the above doesn`t give you any real answers, my advice is where possible only use surgery as a last resort.

cheers mate, i guess i'll have to hope i get an understanding MO and hope i do heal up well, although i've got no choice at the moment as its not looking like its *text deleted* heal sufficiently without an op.

sorry to hear that, at the end of the day if you need the op you need the op...... just make sure you get a good physio that understands what commando training entails so the fix you good and proper, i messed about for a year seeing the NHS physio, i eventually went to a proper sports injury physio who fixed me up in no time, it cost quiet a bit but well worth it in the long run.

good luck
