Yep a conundrum if ever there was.

It's the millennium bug all over again, but hopefully less expensive & pointless this time around.

Assuming Commando course number 001 was started on 14 Feb 1942, then I'd imagine this will be the first time it's reached 4 figures.

Gosh, wonder what comes after 999....?

Maybe it's like a car odometer that only displays 3 digits & therefore, effectively eventually reads 001 again, but that would mean there would have to be a 000 troop if that were to happen & then the Triskaidekaphobiacs would probably start moaning a dozen troops later.

It's not a 3 digit combination clock :D
I am 99% sure it will go to 1000, that or a hole in the universe will open and we'll all die :weird:

im pretty sure it goes back to 001, only because when we where looking at the troop photos in the drill shed their where 876 troops and 974 troops etc from years and years ago.

This would be an excellent question for the next "RM Livechat"- it would be good to see a bit of lateral thinking on this particular topic!

They should do more live chats, perhaps once everyweek, or like something on the army website where you can actually speak to someone on an IRC.

What are they going to call the troops after that? Can't imagine myself referring to a troop with more than 3 digits, should be the least of my worries :flushed:

It will be like an and of an era so i'd be especially honoured to be part of 999 and 001 troop *text deleted*

It will just be 1000 troop. The extra digit might sound strange at first but it would have been the same with the transition from 99 to 100 troop.

It could be like say you were in 1010 troop. They'd probs say like Ten..Ten troop as they say .. Four Five Commando (45 Commando).. correct me if i'm wrong!
