another sniper thread(COD4 gaming advice needed i think)

i know this maybe a stupid question but i was just wondering if you knew for definate if colour blindness affected a sniper application.

i have very good normal vision but cant see the dots in the ishara plate test(sorry for poor spelling) and wondered would this be taken into consideration

no specific extra medical standards for sniper, however you need to pass the sniper acquaint (see FAQs for the sticky)

I'm not being a kill joy but most of you guys ain't going to be snipers.
Even IF you all make it through training and that's a big IF being a sniper is a whole new ball game.
The Royal Marines consists of a vast majority of different skills and every one of you should experience life as a Marine in a Commando unit.
Take it one step at a time, enjoy it, get to know the Corps, its good points and its bad points.
And then some of you might even go on to make snipers:blink1:

Ok basically im VA1 without glasses and VA2 with glasses. As the requirement is only VA1 without glasses, can i apply?

Try standing on the other side of your glasses before you look through them - problem solved.

i know this is going to sound like a stupid question but im just wondering how people would know if youwere a good or better than average shot before going into sniper selection as i assume to getpickedfor it you gota be *text deleted**text deleted* hot at shooting. would it go on the number of targets hit in training etc or the kill count??

No it gets better, but the bracket for va1 with glasses is 6:6 in each eye whereas mine is 6:5 in my right and 6:9 on my left. Without my glasses imm 6:6 in my right and 6:12 in my left, right on the boundary:wondering:
So can i apply as a sniper?

If your uncorrected vision meets Visual Acuity standard 1, then you are OK.

If it doesn't then unfortunately you cannot be a sniper.

going to optician today for a test would they know if i had va1 or not or is it up to the medical dept???
