So i just used www.MapMyRun.com for the first time after seeing it on this site. Turns out the beachfront where i live is 2 miles up, and 2 miles back (it works out as 3.99 miles but im sure that'll be fine).

Would you recomend i run on the sand, or on the path that overlooks the beach?

I'm guessing runnin on sand would slow your time alot, but wouldn't it be better for the ankles?

And if neither of those help, theres a good size playing field close by.

Recomendations please.

Cheers

Run on all the different surfaces!

Sand is great to run on, really tough going but you can feel your lower leg muscles working hard! Lot less impact involved as well if you are trying to avoid that, but obviously your body should be robust enough to handle running on tracks/tarmac as well.

Good article on it here:
