Hello :)

I am just lookin g for some advice over an Injury I seemed to have picked up over the last few days. I was swimming and I noticed some pain at the front of my shoulder where the biceps tendon inserts. There is no swelling but there is clicking and some pain when i flex at my elbow and circle my arm. My mum is a physio and she diagnosed me,but I have booked in to see a shoulder specialist on Tuesday to have a closer look.

I don't get any pain with rows, push ups of hands facing away pull-ups, but chin ups with hands facing together and shoulder shrugs are painful, so I have stopped these and swimming. I was just wondering if anyone else who was training and got this injury could offer me some advice, Thankyou :)

I'm unable to offer advice but was the shoulder specialist helpful?

He was helpful, thanks for asking :)
He did all the ligament and cartilage tests and there was no damage to the joints, there is a fluid bursa under the deltoid muscle which he thinks has become inflamed and is causing a rubbing sensation when I swim, I am resting from the swimming and biceps work for the moment but I am able to do pull-ups and push-ups still pain free which is good :) thanks

Out of interest, did the specialist approve those exercises? Or are you making the (reasonable) assumption that if it doesn't hurt it won't aggravate the identified injury?

I'm not a medical expert but merely channelling the stupidity of my own actions; namely doing dips with a barely healed fracture to a collar bone.

Thanks for the reply,
I explained to the physio my symptoms and I did some push ups in front of him, he said if it was symptom free they were fine to do. He said normal wide grip pull-ups would be fine, I did some tonight and they were not painful :)
The one exercise I was specifically told not to do was weighted shrugging exercise, so I will just avoid that in future :)
