What happens when there are 5000 flies, and we are importing and releasing more of them into the China shop each day.

At some point, the force of flies start to trash the shop regardless of our actions.

Just to add I don't disagree with the analogy. I think that fits IRA and other forms of terrorism perfectly.

I just think this one is different from any other form of terrorism. I don't see any aims of this project other than to destroy everything. I don't think I'm being anti-islamic, I bet 99% of immigrants came here to get away from these idiots. I bet the last thing they will want is to see these crackpots running around here either.

On the topic of sentencing one of the members of the public who bravely tackled the armed man was apparently himself a convicted murderer who had been granted early release from his life sentence.

This arguably confuses the apparently straightforward public notion of punishment and rehabilitation.

Ah, but does it have a likkle fluffy unicorn toy dangling from the mirror?

On a more serious note, it does worry me that our boys and girls in blue seem to be spending an inordinate amount of their time dealing with mental health issues in the local community. Not sure what the answer is, but I'll bet that wasn't something envisaged when people join the Police.

Indeed, it isn’t really what Sir Robert had in mind I am sure..

    Social worker, Paramedic, Child minder...

But at the heart of it are still decent bobbies doing what they can. I was reading a report on the attack- First call went in at 13:58hrs and City of London officers bravely and professionally confronted the suspect by 14:03hrs, just five minutes later.

Do the City of London cops operate under different rules from other cops? I only say it because the City of London has its own powers in UK Law. Legally it is almost not even part of the rest of the UK.

From what I know of the City of London, the cops that shot him won't be thrown under any buses.

Not unlike BTP they have more bylaws to play with.

They are governed by the The Court of Common Council within the city and not the police and crime commissioner.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Corbyn supports appeal by a remote Arctic indigenous community that the sacred 'stolen' narwhal tusk is returned.

Okay, it hasn't happened yet... :)

Pondering if the Guardian columnist Shaniqua O'Toole is related to the Plenty O'Toole character played by Lana Wood in the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds are Forever.

Noted mate, all good points. I’ll get back to this as soon as I can.

Please don’t, I’m not sure I have the energy.

Now, where did I put that white flag before you arrange some naked roll mat fighting for Christmas Day.
