One of the CAs here are best placed to give guidance. Either @CHUB! or @Ninja_Stoker will spot this.

To be honest, @CHUB! is the best bet on this subject.

By the "book" a diagnosis of Asperger's is usually a bar to entry but my understanding is it can be misdiagnosed on occasion and the degree by which it affects the individual can vary. Pending a more definitive reply, the best I can offer is medical suitability is determined "case by case". This carries the caveat that I may not be wholly accurate in respect of Asperger's so wait out for confirmation.

Aspergers is not a bar to entry as long as there is no history of violence. The interview is the test to see if you can strike up rapport and hold eye contact.
However autism that is a bar to entry I have my first candidate joining next month when she got a specialist that AD is also on the ASD spectrum. She provided evidence from her employers and college that she had no trouble existing normally. As I always say if you don't ask then you never know.
So go for it and good luck. :)

That's great since I had eye contact lessons a while back and now I can make eye contact perfectly and people say that I'm to sociable since I won't "Shut up" *text deleted*

It depends upon the severity of it. Expect a longer application process than normal as a result. As above sometimes the diagnosis is in question

As a additional not to this one , some guys have got through the process into training who are on the spectrum to varying degrees , Once in training and conducting "simple" evolution's such a stripping a gun..i.e follow a set system and processes are fine , it,s when the scenario requires to move left or right of the initial plan that they encounter issue,s , if this is flagged in the training log they can get assistance in these areas from the CMAT (Coaching , Mentorship & Training Team) if the individual is failing tests then the same rules apply as for any recruit.!.

So there is help when in training if needed .!!

If ever anyone doubted there were trained ranks on the spectrum in the Navy, look no further than an annual Chief Stoker's reunion dinner.

Is there a test that defines aspergers syndrome?
