Can you chose to go to Fleet protection group straight out of training?

Reasonably new to the process, I am from Scotland and would very much like to stay in the country if possible. My first choice would obviously be to to go to 45, if this isn't possible would I also like to go to FPG. I was wondering if it is possible to if I wouldn't be able to go to 45 would this be an option? If so how would I do so? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Yes, if you put 43 as your first choice you will get it.

As stated above, a fairly good chance of getting Scotland as a draft at present - assuming Scotland continues to remain part of UK and/or continues to permit nuclear submarines to operate from Faslane - otherwise all bets are off and the South West of England is likely to be the alternative.

Unit, not regiment.

Every two to three years on average, depending on rank & specialisation.

So if I were to be drafted to 43 what would I be doing when first going there? At some point I would also really like to go to 45, so after a couple years at 43 and I felt I wanted to go to 45 how would I do this? Would I pick a specialisation before going?

If going to 43 it would usually be a 2yr draft, you may be pinged before that or get onto your desired specialisation. For example if you wanted to go Anti-Tanks during your course a list will probably go round from higher stating what they require:

40 Cdo x3
42 Cdo x5
45 Cdo x4

As long as those drafts get filled there happy, it’s big boys rules so you usually decide between yourself’s.
