Dont the US Marine Corp have the opposite side of the globe on there cap badge??

yup, not sure how deliberate it is but they do.

Probably just to put more emphasis on America and that part of the world,
while the British Marines were (and still are) involved mainly in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Would you be allowed to just say it refers to a battle honour or would you need to go into detail?
