i no it mite sound like a stupit question but does other forms of cardio vascular e.g swimming, cycling ect. does this improve your running stamina at all

Of course, they will improve your overall fitness.

However, they won't improve your running to the same extent that running will.

Cross trainers are good. Better for your joints and a 30 minute interval hills session on it, and that should be enough to bring you to tears in no time at all :D

harsh reality my friend the only way you can improve on your running is by doing some running then more and more and more. Like they say above it will improve your all round fitness but been fit alround dosent meen you will be able to run brillianty


And DO NOT cycle if you want to be a good runner it works different leg muscles and when you come to run again the your knees are likely to just give way.

My advice get out into the country side and run till u can go no more :*text deleted*:

Don't see why you shouldn't be cycling Carl, I cycle everywhere and it hasn't had any impact on my running yet.
