Commando Units

Alright lads, I was just wondering how getting assigned to the different CDO Units works after you pass out?

Is it a case of literally getting assigned to any unit they want you in? bit confused if it is as what if you get assigned to the Commando Engineers Unit and you know nothing about engineering?

Could someone possibly clear this up for me, just want to know how it all works post RT

I think in week 9 of RT, while during the ‘individual skills’ module you start doing NVQ’s.

Not too sure, but maybe this is where we get to choose what we like to specialise in, someone will have to confirm this haha

Your first role after training will be as General Duties(GD) marine.

You will be assigned to one of 4 units: 40, 42, 43 or 45 Commando.

You won't be assigned to a engineering unit as that is for Army Commandos or marines with certain job roles.

During the final week of training you will submit your preferences as to which unit you will like and will assigned depending on spaces and which unit needs people.
