    Germany:
Interestingly Germany has a large number tested positive (24,000+) but comparatively low mortality.

The reasons seem to be that the test for COVID 19 is much, much more widely available than in UK, where the number tested positive is reckoned to be around one tenth of those who actually have caught the virus. Similarly, in UK the test is more likely to be given to those in a vulnerable category, which in turn gives a correspondingly higher mortality ratio.

Germany reports about 1 fatality in 300, UK around 1 in 22, Italy 1 in 10. As ever, statistics can be very misleading.

Finally, it's believed the virus was partially spread in Germany by relatively young people returning from skiing holidays in the Italian and Austrian alps.

Without doubt elements of the UK population have yet to understand the current threat and moderate their behaviour accordingly. But the sensationalist media does not help when it broadcasts images of people on the seafront at Bournemouth which were evidently captured with an extreme (possibly 1000 mm) telephoto lens.

Such lenses distort images by compressing distance between objects. Individuals who may have been separated by four metres were made to appear as if they were bunched together.

It's strange having someone so elated at passing prmc but with no clue as to when recruit training will begin.
Almost tempted to buy him boots that he can be breaking in.

A couple of successful candidates on previous PRMCs have commented that boots are no longer issued.
A blinking swizz as characters in The Beano used to say.

No. They were restricted in having any contact with anyone. Didn't even use the gym for the gym tests.
He said the ones they get issued are Altberg sneaker boots. I'm happy to get him a pair but I don't want to get him into trouble.

Because people would get the boots and then not start RT? A bit of an effort to go through PRMC just to get new boots - even if they are good ones :D

Someone commented that this is the reason cited by CTCRM. It's more likely that the 'breaking in' of boots is a bit of a myth.

But a pair of new boots was a tangible trophy for successful candidates to take home and good reason on its own for issuing them at the end of PRMC.

If my memory is working today the boots haven't been issued after PRMC since the start of February so it might be a policy change.

@SaffaGuy might give you definitive advice on boots currently issued at CTCRM if he spots this. I'm somewhat out of touch.

    Passed PRMC
You get issued two different boots at the start of rt:
Haix - Your camp boots. Originally given before prmc to 'wear in' but you honestly dont need to as you're just wearing them around camp.
Altbergs - Your field boots. These are to wear for phys and for the field.

You get issued drill boots but wear those less, naturally.
