Do the royal marines still carry the Fairbairn Sykes Dagger?

Like in Afghanistan if they where out on a patrol, if not for killing, for practical uses? I saw a documentary where one of the first commandos said they used it to spread butter on toast :D

Knifes

Those daggers have not really been used for a lot of years now. You can, once you're in a unit, purchase your own. I had a few tasty ones myself, but that's down to personal choice.

Cheers

Never seen them before but damn I just love them! You know I actually own two machetes which I bought off ebay. Don't use them but cool to have. Hoping to get a collection of samurai swords from my friend, but they don't come cheap.

Would you strap one of these to your leg if you had a dagger?

my step-mum knows a a marine, passed out with 892 troop

he lent me some videos of his kings squad parade and commando training.

from what i saw, they have the commando dagger on parade, like the officers have swords, the marines have daggers.

I think it's probably like those crappy gift shops you get in National Trust buildings.

Christ Man. They're called Bayonets and you hang them from your belt on parade!

You can buy a commando dagger with or without 'By horse by tram' etched on the blade either from the UIF shop at lympstone or countless places online. They are really just for show, but I can't see anyone stopping you taking one in the field/on Ops.

Probably best to wait until after you've got your green lid before getting one - don't want to jinx it!
