I'm going out on Sunday to try and do my first six miler. I've done 3-4 miles before no problems. The route I've picked is out in the country, lots of different gradients and a quiet road. It also has the advantage that the half-way mark is at a mate's house (If I'm knackered, I can get a lift home). Any advice on pacing etc? What's a goodish time to be aiming for?

Considering it's your first 6 miler take it slow. Aim for 50-60 minutes as 9-10 minute miles is like a walk/jog pace, anything better and it's a bonus. On your next 6 miler you'll know you can do 6 miles comfortably so just increase the pace a tad and adjust accordingly.
