Hi. Further to above, I have a reply on my email from Clare:
Quote:
Easter leave 2020
3rd April - 20th April 2020

so that’s that then, ignore the strange notice up on the wall in nods section office.... I’ll go for the safe option of booking a holiday on the one week that crossed over both dates! L O L

thanks for your help all.

Christmas 2020: Date to be confirmed

The start date is the first full day of leave. Recruits are usually released on the day before. The end date is the day on which Recruits must return to CTCRM, usually by no later than 2000 that day.

As always dates liable to change due to security status. Anyone booking holidays and/or travel tickets must buy cancellation insurance.
Are these leave dates above (post #1) only applicable to recruits during training or to all serving members?

Can serving members pick their own leave dates?

I am confused on the issue. How does it work?

Thanks Chelonian.

So after training they are free to select their own leave dates as they see fit?

The annual leave is 6 weeks? and any time they choose?

No. Each unit will have its own leave periods but there may be more flexibility depending upon operational requirements.

One of the currently serving lads may give you a better insight if they spot this.

Is there any chance of summer leave being shifted about due to corona or are leave dates set in stone down at CTC?

Simple answer is yes. Block leave at training establishments can be postponed or cancelled for numerous reasons.

I understand that many Recruits at home now are not on Easter Leave but on 48-hour notice to move.

The current national situation changes weekly. Expecting the unexpected might be a healthy approach.

Individuals leave can be booked as and when, but most RM units still take block leave periods that overlap so some ranks will be on camp - this is known as "rear party" xmas and easter are good examples of this summer leave tend to be a bit more spread out, but not always.

Units hold something called a long cast which is a 2-year training plan, and if you know your unit/company is due to be away in Oman or somewhere else you will not normally be allowed to place leave in over that period, the lads only really have oversight over the next few months maybe, so asking your troop Sgt or CSM is a good idea if planning leave a long way out.

Even if you do ask and plan well ahead, the powers that be can on occasion try to backtrack on the "promised" leave, so if that happens you have to fight your corner or a good NCO / SNCO may do it for you. Most places i have been to try to help if you have something booked such as a wedding or long time holiday booked , but to put it in a nutshell junior ranks should always check as their leave needs to be approved anyway , only SNCO and above approve requires no approval.

Cancellation insurance is absolutely essential if you are planning on travelling anywhere during a leave period.
