Just to update, for those who have been forum members for a year or more, you'll recall the future of this website was uncertain this time last year due to the fact my contract was due to expire. The site was saved at the eleventh hour as a new post was created by Captain Naval Recruiting to help support the Royal Navy on social media for twelve months. This was largely attributed to the strong support of forum members who very much made it clear the site was useful. Again, my thanks those who helped, you know who you are. The odd thing was that I thought I'd have more time to contribute to this forum but I'd underestimated how much of a time vortex the other social media aspects would create. The odd thing about working in the digital domain is it is far from a monday to friday 9 to 5. In addition much as I thought my time would be taken-up giving careers advice to a wider audience, most of it has been one to one, rather than hundreds or thousands, hence the time vortex. The other thing I found was that as long as I have a 4G signal, it matters not where I am. Many is the time I've found myself answering recruiting queries on Facebook on a Saturday evening, whilst sitting on a cabin cruiser on the inland waterways. Similarly, I've found myself conducting recruit tests and selection interviews in Yorkshire, Surrey & Merseyside, covering staff shortages. In short, not what I envisaged, but thoroughly diverse, enjoyable and I hope, a useful job. As we stand, this week I signed a new three year contract as an Area Recruiting Manager in the South East of UK, which starts in September. So what? Well it means the future of this forum is secured until at least the end of September 2020 In other news - congratulations and best wishes are in order for @CHUB! who was recently promoted into the role of Office Manager.
