Hello, not sure if this is a silly question but you know on Commando: On Front Line when they go out on patrol for the first time and they come under fire and you have a few marines that have the GPMG or the LMG not sure what one, how do you become of these?

Is it just what you are told to take out or is this a sort of specialisation?

I know it sounds childish but thats what I want ha ha.

As far as I know every one is trained to use them. Even if I'm wrong, Commando on the Front Line only covers a brief period, it's 1.5 years before any specialisation becomes available.

Each section has a man assigned to using the LMG (if I remember correctly).

The GPMG and heavier weapons are used by people with Heavy Weapons SQ.

Some of the guns look like great fun to use, especially the bigger machine guns (have you seen the neq machine grenade launcher - jesus christ!) I think I'll want to specialise in something that will give me some civilian qualificiations though. Afterall, you're not a marine forever and going back to civvie street with an A-grade in going to town with a .50 cal won't help you find a job!

Every one is GPMG trained and LSW (Light Support Weapon) trained at CTCRM so dont worry you will all get a play. At CTCRM they will change the GPMG/LSW gunners on different exercises so everyone gets a chance to see how they handle operationally as well as on the range.

Remember during operations carrying a GPMG also means carrying the ammo and this adds up to a lot of extra weight so it might not be as fun as you think.

The GPMG weighs approximately 24 pounds without ammo if I remember rightly and yes the ammo is usually distributed around the section. Its hard work when you first start carrying it but you soon get used to it.

And... from another point of view, the GPMG is a great weapon during live firing.

Best Regards

I think you get to first you the LSW in week 9, a GPMG in week 19 and the Minimi in week 24. When you pass out of training and get posted to a unit you may get to use a 50.cal, but don't take my word on that. And I think you have to specialise as a sniper. If you go ML or UKSF, or possible BRF then you'll also be trained to use a sniper, but again I'm not to sure on that.
