So if I pass the welbeck AIB and achieve the correct grades I will be guaranteed a spot in a YO batch so long as I pass my poc?

Is welbeck the only college you can get a scholarship for through the Royal Marines?

    Yep.
    Nope.

All potential Officers in year 11 or 12, with top GCSE grades (mainly A/B) are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Be aware however, only the top 5% of AIB passes are in the frame and even then there's only a handful on offer.

If I was to pass the AIB but not get selected for the sixth form scholarship would the AIB pass be valid for joining the rm after my a-levels?

I believe an AIB pass is only valid for a year so presumably not.

After applying how long is it until you have to complete your pjft(roughly)?

Well if you assume it's 1 week after you apply you do your RT then a week after that an interview a week after that your Medical then the PJFT has to be completed within 2 weeks of passing your medical so it depends how long it takes you to pass the medical really but roughly I guess it could be done in like a month

Another question :D just finding the forum a great source. As I'm applying for the rm sixth form scholarship and just going in to year eleven will I still have to weigh 65kg even though I won't go in for another 2 years?

Generally around a month or two, definitely do not apply without being able to pass a pjft it comes quicker than you think.

@Ninja_Stoker any ideas, seems like you'd be the best person to ask.

Yes, RM applicants cannot progress their applications beyond the medical examination until at least 65kgs.

Reason? Because if they otherwise decide to later jon as an other rank, all valid selection elements transfer to that application.
