hi there, hoping to start training this September if all goes well, I was just curious about what the deal is with being able to leave at weekends etc - only as my sister is getting married on a weekend in December and so was wondering if I'd be able to go. Any help appreciated.

Not unless it's a scheduled long weekend, and even those can be removed, and often do. If it's over a block leave period you should be good. No allowances are made during RT. Unless it's a severe family bereavement .

I heard one case of a lads partner giving birth. He was allowed home for the birth and a weeks leave, to be with the new baby.

He got backtrooped 2 weeks on his return as he'd missed an important criteria excersise.
