Inspirational Anthems.

As a spin off from motivational music regarding RT etc.

What national anthems/patriotic songs or tunes do you rate as moving/stirring and why.

I will start with the scene from Casablanca. France having been overrun by the German forces. Paris has fallen and France is divided. That part not directly under German control being known as Vichy France, part being those French held areas in North Africa. Morocco hence Casablanca being one.

I understand that some in this scene had in fact escaped from mainland France so for them this has to be a very poignant moment.

Should be our national anthem in my opinion, a lot more inspiring than God Save the Queen.

I’ve always preferred our anthem to God save the Queen because it’s just about a love of the country. I’ve heard people object to GSTQ on grounds of disliking the monarchy but Land of my Fathers is just love of Wales. Also, it still fits the tune (more or less) when sung in English!
