Joining from Odd Situation

Alright lads,

I am very enthusiastic to apply to become an RM Officer when recruitment re-opens for the role (March 2021, I believe). Unusually, I am already a junior officer (Sub-Lt) in the Royal Naval Reserve with 2.5 years' service; neither my Unit Warrant Officer, the career pipeline specialist at Navy HQ on Whale Island nor the AFCO seem very sure of what I need to do to apply.

Could any of you offer any advice on the matter? Only thing I've been told is I wouldn't have to resign from the RNR to do it. Would that mean therefore doing interviews, POC etc in dress uniform (1Cs) etc?

There is a cell in NCHQ, albeit remote working at present, that deals with 'in-service' transfers for Ratings & Other Ranks.

For Officer in-service transfers, AIB certainly used to process RM/RN transfers and are best placed to give definitive guidance in this area. Obviously, AIB is already cracked, but they load Officer candidates onto RM Officer selection courses (in whatever format they will be undertaken) and will also advise the sartorial requirements, career path, seniority awarded, pay, contract etc.
