Hi was just wondering what the best way to get fit for the reserves is, whether it’s following and practising what’s on the RM website or if there’s anything else. This was the best place to visit he said and has given me 3 Months before we’re due to chat again. - Cheers.

And can anyone say how many days a year you can do as with the Army (3 Royal Welsh) you can do 207 days a year.

Welcome. I'd avoid any training plans which require payment. There are excellent, free resources out there.

On this forum Arny's plan has been voted as a proven, successful, training schedule:

Hopefully others here will answer your question about time commitment.

Arny's plan focuses on the training areas which are specific to PRMC. You'll notice that there is an emphasis on running. :)

Plenty of experiences from others on the forum if you have a dig through the search function. Some key words and phrases to search: bottom field, endurance course, hill sprints, squats, fireman's lift/carry, etc.

If you opted to go Regular you could do 365.25 days each year.

‘You *text deleted* focus on your fitness and see how that goes then go from there rather than jumping to far ahead of yourself as itl put a lot of pressure on you if your not physically ready.

If you don’t mind me asking what your age and current fitness is like bft/press/sit/pullups bleep test?
People on here could give better advice then knowing where your at physically and what you need help with

To add some numbers to your aspirations. There are 365 days a year. Of which 260 are week days. We usually get 7 weeks off a year divided between summer, xmas and easter.

That leaves you working 225 days of the year assuming you work the bank holidays. Just a few more than your 207 days of reserve service...

Please explain why you wish to join the reserves because it doesn't make sense.

To say you want to go reserves but want to work as many days as possible is bizarre. Think about what you want from the Corps and why you want to join

Out of interest I searched for information about Royal Welsh Reserves. At first glance, someone in R WELSH appears to have a sense of humour. Hover a mouse over the link to Regimental Handbook and...

@WannaBeRMR Unsure if the above is an official website. The URL hints that it might not be. If this website was the source of information about 207 days annual Reserve service I suggest checking it with a credible, official source.
