Alright lads, just found this video on YouTube of a Royal Marines “how to map read” video which seems like it could be pretty useful for lads wanting to get a head start or try it out themselves. It’s a 13 part video but I’ll post the link to part 1/13 and you should be able to find the rest from there. Also sorry if this is already posted or spoken about...

You’ll enjoy these exact videos when you get down to CTC. Recently I re watched one of them because I’d briefly forgotten an element of navigation, they’re very useful.

Every potential bootneck should be watching these and practising as all you got to purchase is a compass and a map.

Free tuition right there so I’d definately take advantage of it!

I always try use the search function but if I type in “map reading” all I get is a list of thousands of different posts/replies/threads that have the word “map” or “reading” in them but will be posts about something totally different. Am I doing it wrong?

This for example comes up when I type in map reading, is there a way to get posts with map reading in the post name only?

    Try this:
Use the search box on the forum home page. Search "map reading" (include the quote marks) which might give you more specific results. Also search "navigation" as it should bring up related results.

There is a tick box to 'Search titles only' in the search box fields.
