Afternoon all. Currently working 12 hour night shifts, (which is soul destroying but thats off topic)finish at 6am and go straight to the gym. My lower legs can get quite swolen and painfull after being stood around all night so looking for any workouts that will absolutely wreck me while improving fitness levels. At the moment I'm doing a 500m row then 500m skierg x 10 but I'm getting bored of it and it doesnt feel like I'm getting fitter the way a 5 mile run would leave me feeling. Any workouts or advice are very welcome. Cheers

Have a look for the Fintan circuit using the search feature on the site, it should help with your overall fitness and will totally destroy you haha. But the only way to get better at running is to run for long distances so you might want to try going for a run before your shift or fitting it in somewhere else in your schedule. Hope this helps.

Do your run in the afternoon after you have rested. You need to keep your running up to scratch.

Agreed. Unfortunately CV isn't like strength training where you can leave it for a week and still hit the same numbers. Discovered that last week due to illness.

Any rowing circuit mixing short bursts and an exercise for example
    300m-10 Burpees
    300m-9 burpees
    300m-8 burpees
    ...

    Down to 1 Burpee.
Start a one minute timer when you start you burpees, use the remainder of that minute as your rest period. E.g. 10 burpees at 35 seconds gives you 25 seconds rest until rowing.

    Pays to be a winner.
