National service waiver.

I humbly ask for the counsel of our resident Ninja.

Because I have completed my National Service in Greece I have been asked to provide a statement from the Greek Army that says I have been released from all military duty and am free to join the British Military.

I have spent the whole summer in Greece trying to procure this document to no avail. It seems no one there can be bothered to put pen to paper. Getting a Greek to work in the summer is like asking a North Korean to smile.

However, I do have my release papers and if translated there is one very clear bold line that states "Sotiris *sir name* has completed his Military duty".

I realize this isn't very specific but will it pass?

Hmmn, not entirely sure on that one.

What the RM are after is some sort of assurance that Greece no longer regards you as liable for compulsory mobilisation on a Reserve basis in the event of a crisis. Best bet is speak to London AFCO overseas desk for clarification (Link below) - if need be, ask if you can email a scanned copy of your Discharge Certificate to the nice Warrant Officer chappy for clarification whether it is considered acceptable.

Bugger.

I'll have to wait for the translation to come through first...sigh.

Thanks for that Stoker.
