Hi Guys,

I am South African and live in the U.K. with my Italian passport, I am very worried the latter will be an issue with regards to being cleared to attempt joining the Royal Marines. I thought I could always return to South Africa renounce my Italian nationality and apply from S.A. or I could wait a year and get my British passport as I would have been here long enough to apply.

Ay advice would be a relief and a God send so thank you in advance guys.

Ok first off don't renounce anything its not needed far as i know.

If you have lived and worked in the UK for 3 or more years you will have no problem applying to the marines as a member of the commonwealth. Alternatively if you know a currently serving member of the armed forces you can obtain a residency waiver and apply to the marines.

Your best bet is to contact the London office by email nr-london-ca3g@rncareers.mod.uk or by phone Tel: 0207 305 3329 and ask them to put you through to the foreign careers advisor.
