https://apply.army.mod.uk/how-to-join/can-i-join/fitness/physical-entry-standards As of the 1st of April 2019 all new Army recruits must pass these new physical standards that have been in the pipeline for quite some time as far as I am aware. Officers still have to pass a bleep test and an obstacle course but press ups and sit ups have now been replaced. I was wondering what peoples thoughts on this issue are? Would you argue that this is a step in the right direction as it seems to test more "true to life" physical skills that are required throughout roles in the Army? Or do people feel as if this is an "easing" of standards compared to say the Royal Marines which have a very gruelling "traditional" set of entry standards?
