It’s an introduction. How have you got on with the application process so far?
I personally found the introductions helpful as it’s a good way to find out how other people have found the process.

A warm welcome, the idea of the intro is to encourage users to contribute to the forum content. The bulk of site visitors just use it to extract info but the more that contribute to the content, the better the detail of the reference source.

Ok so after months of delay with the medical once cleared I phoned my AFCO and was given a PJFT the next day! Then after passing that (8.20) I was given a PRMC less than 2 weeks after! (15/01/2019) so flying through the application process recently.
    Thanks

Yeah totally agree, that’s why I’ve finally decided to make an account to give something back to this community as I’ve picked up a lot of tips from this forum.
    Thanks

Never tried maxing out, I don’t believe in destroying yourself during training sometimes it takes so long for your muscles to fully repair it means your workouts for the next 5+ days are affected.
When your trying to also juggle that with swimming, running, boxing, circuit training, weightlifting etc. For me I prefer to train ‘little and often’.

I know from years of doing pull ups I can already do 15 comfortably.
Press ups I’ve tried doing 40 a few times very comfortably and stopped.
Same with sit ups I’ve reached 60 comfortably and stopped.

A lot of die hard bodybuilders will
Probably tell me I’m doing it wrong and need to ‘train till failure’ or I won’t get stronger.
And I’m not saying I’m *text deleted* settle for minimum scores either, I’ll be pushing myself in the gym tests believe me!
Just havnt bothered pushing myself further than I need to go during training.

I’ll let you guys know how I get on I’m confident I’ll get high stats!

That was my first time using a treadmill I wasn’t sure of the speed settings etc. I didn’t turn it up till near the end I’m aiming for under 8 minutes on PRMC.

    Thanks mate will do!

Its kind of foolish to expect high scores on the day without ever working your muscles to the same extent in training

You’ll be pushed beyond failure during RT I’m sure. I would recommend pushing yourself more.

Not at all. Look up ‘greasing the groove’
    Volume is better than intensity.

Guys just to clarify - I train hard 10 times a week (ish) my point is just if I was to ‘max out’ all the time I’d be so tight and aching/stiff for days it would hamper my training.

I’m fully aware that I’ll be pushed during PRMC and for the rest of my career if I’m successful.

But your muscles need to get used to reaching their limits in order to adapt to the stress and grow..

Who says I want my muscles to grow? ‍♂️

Just to explain it to people like you:

I started push up training doing 3 sets of ‘marine style’ push ups for 10 reps and have slowly built it up to 3 sets of 30 reps

But your saying my muscles aren’t getting used to the workload?

Where you go up by one rep on one set each day?

No not at all! I never do the same workout twice in the same week (another big bodybuilding myth busted - lock me away!)

That was just the kind of leap in progress I’ve made. I’ve always done weightlifting type stuff so I did initially struggle with the transition to push ups to start off with but have made some solid progress ... all without the stereotypical ‘thou shalt do max reps every night before bed’ approach if you see where I’m coming from?
