Hello chaps,

Been lurking a good while now but as my application is in the post i thought i'd see how i can contribute to the site, as it has helped me enormously already.

So a few bits about myself:
Names Jon, I'm 28 and live in West Surrey currently.
I have a degree in Architecture but work as a QA manager in the games industry and have done for about 5 years.

I wasn't particularly a happy bunny so i decided to get off my arse and make a man of myself and join the Royal Marines. I quit smoking and have been training for about 3 months now. The missus and her little one have moved on since i said i was going to join, i have a mortagage and despite the huge pay cut i'll be taking i know being a Royal Marine Commando will give me everything i want out of life, with a little hope my life experiences so far, will aid the journey.

I'm planning to take the Pjft/PRMC towards the end of the year or the begining of next year when i'm 29 and i'm up to scratch with the fitness, mostly on the advice of a physiotherapist. My CV levels are currently a bit dire but the strength is improving dramatically, i'm lucky to have a free gym at work with excellent staff to beast me when i appear to be slacking. I'll post up some scores after my next fitness test.

I'm also considering paying the extortionate 30 quid a session (+50 for joining) with British Military Fitness to drive me that little bit further and show all you young pups a thing or two :amuse:

Enough of my waffle for now, hope to see you all the other side of RT.
Let the games begin!

Just the degree, i fell out of favour with the whole banality of the architectural system, creating giant glass peni and such.

I do however still hold much passion for both buildings and creating space as
I was lucky to do a BAHons as opposed to a BSc, so i got to paint pretty pictures and all that arty farty stuff!

I only got a desmond but i believe its what you personally get out of it more than the piece of paper you're awarded.

To Mrskippy,

GCSE it means General Certificate of Secondary Education. Bunch of exams and tests. Basically you do them before A levels, and after the SAT tests. I'm going through them right now, and I thoroughly hate them *text deleted*.

*text deleted* 2-2's better than a kick in the knackers mate. as you said i reckon the experience is worth as much as the paper, that being said i died out (uni not architecturingness studies) after year one...
i didn't realise a BA was offered- my ex is qualifying now as an architect, she says it was the worst decision she made, by the sounds of it your degree would have been ideal. best of luck with YO.

To be honest Ish i think you're a huge inspiration and motivation for us older lot and probably the younger lot too come to think of it.

Good luck geeza, glad to see your determination despite the illness you suffered.
