Hello Guys!
I have searched far and wide for an answer regarding this however I noticed a tingle in my lips and gums after eating apples and pears etc so I ended up seeing my GP (before the idea of joining the RM came to mind) and a few weeks ago I finally got an allergy test however they also tested me for nuts and pollens etc.
Ive always had hayfever but its come back as a reaction to nuts too! Which is ironic considering days before my allergy test I was necking bags of roasted peanuts on my lunch break at work.... I have eaten nuts my entire life, on their own, in cakes, chocolate bars, literally everything and Ive never had a problem.....
The head allergist called me back to discuss my results and said that It is called Oral Allergy Syndrome which is a cross reaction between the pollen that causes my mild hayfever, it gets onto those nuts and fruits and essentially causes very mild hayfever in my mouth, thus the tingling. I DONT need an epi pen and HAVENT been prescribed one as If the fruits or nuts are cooked or the skins taken off im fine with it, even when theyre raw its only a very very mild tingle for a couple mins max...
Could anyone kindly shed light on whether this would bar my entry or if It were to be made PMU whether theres any tests I can take to prove I can eat nuts without any breathing difficulties and if an appeal would likely to be successful?
Thank you very much
PS Ive put so much work into training for this, if a factor as minor as this stops me itll be painful to say the least
