If you do parachute training in the Corps, do you have to do P-Company aswell. Also is it manditory to be able to parachute before you can undergo certain trade training, SBS,ML,Recon Op for example :?:

Parachute Training

Green Lid: P - Company is part of the paras training and not the marines.

Generally you can apply to do parachute training, but with cost cutting and all that, you have more chance of being parachute trained if you have the right SQ. i.e. you are in Recce troop, an ML or SBS.

Believe it or not, the paras do less jumps than the marines now. Crazy I know, but that's cost cutting for you!!

One other

There was one other time. This was colonel H Jones's replacement after he got shot and killed during the Falklands War.

Since then. No other time that I'm aware of. It is crazy I know.

Best Regards

Last year I was at RAF Uxbridge, home of the RAF Reg.
I had a lecture, and they said that you could transfer from RM-Para's-RAFR, and so forth, once your SNCO.
This still happening?
