Hi all,

Going to be adding a 5k park run to my training on Saturdays. I’m going to be giving the route a recce run tonight so I know of any gradients and where abouts they come in the run, just got a couple of questions for guys who may already be doing them:

1. Is there any positives/negative points about running on grass?

2. Is running a 5k on grass going to make running a BFT on roads more efficient?

Grass saves your knees. I try and avoid running on roads as much as possible.
In long grass especially, it's probably going to be harder going than tarmac as the grass is soaking up some of the energy you're putting into running. I wouldn't think too much into it though.
Park Run is great. The one near me is around a National Trust estate, with loads of uphill. Seems to attract quite a few serious runners, so I always end up pushing myself. Would definitely recommend.
