No I messed my application up for the marines, applied at 15 and failed the recruitment test. Could easily pass it now.

And why join paras? Stick with the RMC

Ninja lives for this! And his rapid response says loads about his commitment to us and the forum. Or he's just getting on....I'm told the more you age to perfection the earlier you rise in the morning, in some ways atleast. :D

I originally applied rm was up to prmc in june 2015 however i got injured it took a while to get back into things when it came to reapplying my girlfriend got pregnant and as marines is pass or fail the army tells you to pick options and you have different criteria for each job like if i failed under 9.30 1.5 i could do rifles which is a measly 12.30 and if i failed para assesments i wouldnt be stuck in a job i hate. I never read much about paras but i like how big army sport is especially para boxing

Stick with the RM mate, will definitely be worth it in the long run.

The Corps toppers and I've looked at every end of the stick to rejoin and every route possible, after realising it's not going to happen and after a hard think I've decided to go for the Paras and put 100% into that.

To be honest I didn't really enjoy training with the paras beacuse I loved the royal marines. The history the cap badge, the training. Is more rewarding to be a royal marines command.

The royal navy is just one big happy family, I don't feel that with the army.

Thats my main reservation, grown to love the corps and its history and everything about it.

Only reason I'd consider it is if my medical appeal fails, though hopefully thats been sorted due to the help of a very nice person going out of their way for me.

I will wind ones neck in! (RTFQ as they say).
Never mention liverpool when at trials for Everton. But just like Rooney you can always wear a RM onesie!

@RoyalBoot is a former Royal Marines Commando, from what I gather.

Finally we have someone able to give a balanced and qualified view to compare and contrast.

Unfortunately made the mistake of leaving.

As bitter as I am about not being able to get back in I do look forward to the new challenge and seeing any differences/similarities.

Likewise, the Corps are still only letting certain trained rank specialists to rejoin. Hopefully this will change, particularly in view of the fact we aren't filling PRMCs and inevitably the outflow will exceed the input in the "not too distant".

Last time I looked, the Corps was still 240 above their trained strength manning target unfortunately.
