On the press ups and sit ups in the gym, are you allowed to rest on the pressups so i could do 30 rest in pressup raised positon then 20 and 10? same concept on situps? or is it just best effort in one?

You can stay in the upright arms locked position. You shouldn't need a break for sit ups. But if you did then you can stay down.

Yeh it the correct position with arms straight. They will deduct points for throwing you bum in the air though; so you need to keep a straight back. They did it to people on my RMAD anyways.
