question about boots

oright lads i have just come back from look at life course and i was just wondering are goretex boots better than normal ones comfort wise? as i got a pair issed for the week and i was blister free however the lads with normal boots ended up with blisters

Maybe you were just the lucky one. Goretex boots can equally give blisters & conversely some people don't get blister from the standard issue boots.

In recruit training, few escape blisters unfortunately.

Gortex boots are useless for speed marching and yomping. They make your feet sweat, which in turn causes friction then blisters!!

Personal experience from within the TA

I got issued the pro-boots, as in the goretex ones and since getting them they're the only ones I use. I've never had blisters in them but certainly did in the normal ones. I find them a lot comfier but some guys aren't fussed by them and just wear the normal ones.

Only thing with the goretex ones is that they are a fair bit heavier so not really the best for speed marches and running. Oh, and if they get wet in the field...they'll be wet for days.
