Okay guys,

I was looking through some pictures of RM's the other day and I'd noticed that I had never seen an SA80 with a suppressor..

I know there isn't much use for them out in Afghanistan but can't seem to find any pictures of one with a suppressor at all, which I found strange as I expect they must come in handy.

Can anyone shed any light?

Hope it's alright me sharing

Thread about the suppressor from the forum we all love and adore http://www.arrse.co.uk/weapons-equipment-rations/117698-sa80-suppressor.html

Comment regarding the purpose of it

"The value of the suppressor (as in the case of any military suppressor even using subsonic ammo) is to eliminate flash and reduce and disguise the report of the shot (not totally eliminate it) and thereby make locating the shooter on the basis of sight or sound more difficult."

And unless in SF, you'll never touch a suppressor. Not that they use the SA80.

Quite a lot of the snipers in Afghanistan seem to be using suppressors.
Ha, I was expecting that response.

Indeed, but snipers are a special case. I imagine most of them will be using suppressors to mask their locations.

Otherwise, you definitely won't see one on the end of an SA80.
