Just out of interest are Mountain Leaders classed as special forces, and is the course mega tough.

From what i know they are not officially classed as SF but they're training is on par with SF selection.

Isn't it one of those weird things where, you only have to do 2 years and then you can apply for SF but you have to wait longer to apply to be a ML and be a JNCO....always found that odd

I think it's because ML's do alot instructing at the CTCRM and at commando units, possible needing the experience of leading men.

ML's do not get SF pay, however they may be called upon to instruct SF personnel in their particular area expertise.

Yeah, saw a documentry on discovery a few years back about the ML selection/training most of them where older then I imagined early to late 30's, extremly fit guys :eek:ops:
