I currently have an ongoing application for an Engineering Technician - Marine Engineer within the RN. I have passed the recruitment process (including security clearance) and I have been told that my wait from application start is 3 years. This means I'm expected to commence basic in March 2013.

As you can imagine, I have had plenty of time to think about my role of choice and I have finally decided that joining the Marines would be better suited to my personality.

Is it too late to change my mind? If not, what can I do without p*text deleted*sing off my advisor?

Any feedback welcome.

You are totally at liberty to change your branch of preference, much the same as there's no obligation to join at any stage.

If you've completed all elements of RN selection & change to RM you'll need to take the RM PJFT first, followed by update interview & then PRMC.

Make sure you are immediately ready to take & pass the RM PJFT before announcing your intention otherwise you will be viewed with a good measure of scepticism.

Good luck.
