Indeed it is. It's actually quite saddening that a lot of civvies think of the Armed forces as just 'The Army' as they will think anyone wearing combats is in the Army or simply a soldier.

Yeah it's stupid, I tell people that I'm joining the Marines, and as far as they're aware "Ed is joining the Army", and they assume that the forces are "wannabe hard chavs"

That bank holiday idea is brilliant I think! People just walk past war memorials and don't even blink..maybe if they get time off to think about why they are who they are they'll start appreciating that Britain is only Britain because of its fighting men and women.
