Your reght guys....i was just thinking 2 myself..'Why are the above named so secret and identities can never be revealed? I can understand why there identities cant be revealed! But if a Regular Infantry person snipes a taliban leader there name, regiment that there from surrey r sumrt etc get posted in every single news paper....surely this leaves them as much open to attack/capture as Special Forces

I cant really explain it gud but i *text deleted* what i mean *text deleted*!

They have their identities hidden cause they are special forces i presume, highly trained killers.

it's because of the counter terrorism work they do. where as standard forces don't specialise in that area, they fight on the battle field. spec ops need anonymity to effectively operate in their role

Special Forces not only operate on a battlefield but also go undercover on some ops even in the UK and other countrys so obviously they don't want to be plastered all over the rags to be honest.

RM's do have their identity withheld at times, search "2 snipers shoot speed boat carribean" 3 years ago, names and ID's were withheld.

Some Northern Ireland and Rep of Ireland applicants withould their ID's.

So they do,

The other reason maybe that they don't have enough black cardboard for all the Marines and Para's. :albert:

Well spotted that chap.

The brutal fact regarding SF identity is that they cost an awful lot to train & maintain. The anonymity element is as much to protect the taxpayer time/cost element of selection & training the individual as it is to protect the well-being of the individual as well as stopping him/her from getting bumped-off by an irate deceased terrorist's angry Dad.

The anonymity aspect also helps stop raving loonies who think they may be a match, having a go (believe me, they're out there). It also helps safeguard their families. If the families are jeopardised, then understandably the individual isn't going to be 100% focused on the task ahead.

Re-read your original post and look at your spelling and grammer. Text speak abbreviations should be avoided at all costs! (For me its like nails across a black board. My spelling is crap most of the time, but its nice to see people making the effort to type properly.)

I think Call Of Duty 4 was chosen since thats the most popular main stream game where you play as an SAS operative as far as I'm aware. Speaking of which they really should add some SBS missions into these games. Its about time they took part in the digital gaming world too.

In short there taking the piss :amuse: (No harm meant I'm sure, but since you asked thats probably why) But expect things like that when you start asking questions related to the special forces.
