i got a skipping rope and after about 10 minutes or so it really does the lungs so i was just wondering whether it helps running?

hiya mate. i do thai boxing and we use skipping a lot to keep fit. it is really good for warming up and good for CV fittness. but at the end of the day the best way to train is to practice the things you will be tested on eg Running, press, push and pull ups. it could be a good idea to use skipping when doing circuits. i wouldnt say skipping helps running directly but in the long run it will help your general fittness.

I don't think it actually helps running,
but I tend to do it before running and after,
gets me warmed up before,
and is good for a cool down afterwards.

Yes it will help with your running. But dont replace running with skiping.

Its all CV so good cross training, but nothing beats running. However skipping can cause impact injuries (shins!) i find, so stop if you start to get pain.
