right ...i can run 1.5 miles in 9:26...not all that great but good enough.

my brother can run it in 8:37....

but

i can run 3 miles in 19mins 42 secs.....my bother can run it in 21 mins 28 secs.

...he absolutely cannot keep up with me on 3 or 4 or 5 mile run.

but yet his v02 max is greater than mine? as he can run a faster 1.5 mile run.

see im worried that my vo2 max is about 48.55..according to the bleep test chart to get level 11...you need to be touching at least 50 on v02 max

48.55 being around 10.4 on the bleep test.

so im a little worried..and confused....as i feel pretty fit.

ive been doin interval training (which im *text deleted* have to step up now) but im baffled as my bro is 14/5 stone of pure muscle and im 12 stone 1 and i have no fat on me at all and have been at a good level of fitness for a good while and feel im fitter and stringer than ive ever been.

Hi Alan,

Your Bro would only have a better VO2 max in ref to his 1.5 mile time as he's qiuicker than you over that distance. If you compare the longer distances you run to the time's he covers the same distance then he'll be slower, therefore his VO2 max score will drop - Basically he'll be more of a sprinter (explosive power in short bursts) and you'd be like a middle distance runner if you get my meaning.

alrite mate. first off, you seem to be judging how good you are by comparing yourself to somebody else. Dont do this. If you are as fit as you have ever been then that is what is important. It seems like your brother is pretty good at short distance, which in reality 1.5 miles is, but you are better at longer distances which is most important. I really dont understand the vo2 max so i cant really comment, but my advice would be to judge yourself by your own standards, not what somebody else is doing.

Ignore the chart mate and forget statistics.

The best way to know where you are with the bleep test is to do it. Get it downloaded, mark out 20m and don't give in until you're on your knees.
ive got one on cd....thing is its finding some where to do it...

...im sure it will be fine
